Unusual discovery of Polish sappers from the12th Mechanized Brigade of Stargard Szczecinski.

Lt. Bernard Tomczak from the 2nd battalion of sappers informed that "in order to identify human remains while collecting dangerous materials in the gmina Warnice, the soldier called police from investigation department of the District Police Headquarters in Pyrzyce and specialists from the Department of Forensic Medicine, Pomeranian Medical University in Szczecin".
Deputy inspector and Deputy Commander of the District Police in Pyrzyce Grzegorz Śrek says: "On 07/09/12 in Barnim, gmina Warnice. (Gmina is situated in the north western part of the pyrzyckie poviat), has been found the remains of a Wehrmacht NCO soldier, which certainly confirms identification plate in the form of the dog tag found next to the soldier. This is the second such case to find human remains from the Second World War this year. At the moment experts from the Department of Forensic Medicine in Szczecin identify these remains and personal belongings".
This is one of the major findings from the Second World War. "During the examination the patrol soldiers discovered a whole arsenal of weaponry, which included: 1 mg 34 machine gun with a full magazine of ammunition, one grenade gun, so called panzerfaust, 3 wz. Mosin 1898 rifles, two grenades, three hand grenades and 469 stems ammo caliber 7.62 mm. - adds Lt. Bernard Tomczak of 2 BSAP 12 MB.
This year, 12th Mechanized Brigade sappers were called 114 times to collect dangerous and explosive military materials in the number of 2130.
