EMPA's 2012 Best Article and Best Photo Award Winners Announced

EMPA’s 2012 Best Article and Best Photo Award winners were announced during Association’s General Meeting that took place in Prague, Czech Republic on 18 October 2012. EMPA’s President Mrs. Līga Lakuča in her address reminded participating members and guests that this year for the first time in Association’s history, EMPA’s annual best article and best picture awards’ winners were selected by members’ internet voting. This year there were 4 nominations from 3 countries for EMPA’s 2012 Best Article Award and 37 nominations from 6 countries for EMPA’s 2012 Best Picture Award.

 

Col. Helmut Anzeletti (Austria) was awarded with EMPA’s 2012 Best Article Award for his article Georgia – Where I left my soul (Memories of the United Nations Military Observer Mission in Georgia (UNOMIG) that was published in Truppendienst, June 2011. The Truppendienst Editor in Chief Col. Dr. Jörg Aschenbrenner (Austria) was presented the award to be delivered to Col. Anzeletti; Col. Dr. Aschenbrenner told Col. Anzeletti’s brief service history and read his thank you note to EMPA’s President.

 

 

Mr. Erling Eikli (Norway) was awarded with EMPA’s 2012 Best Photo Award for his photo The great finale - After one year of training the Norwegian conscripts of His Majesty the King’s Guard performs during a tattoo show on the Red Square in Moscow that was published in F – Forsvarets forum No.10, 2011. As Mr. Eikli was not able to participate, Mr. Tor Eigil Stordahl (Norway) was asked to accept the award and deliver it to Mr. Eikli.

Mrs. Lakuča thanked members for participation in this year’s internet voting. According to EMPA’s Best Article and Best Photo Award Statues, both the winning article and photo will be published in the next EMPAnews.
