Enhancing cooperation with Great Britain
Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic met in London
with Foreign Minister William Hague, as well as with members of the House of Lords, the
EU Committee of the British Parliament. Ministers Vucic and Haig discussed the European
integration of Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija, judicial reform and the fight against corruption.
The two ministers expressed their wishes that Serbia and the United Kingdom are reliable
Minister Vucic met with members of the EU Committee of the British Parliament. At the
beginning of the meeting Vucic introduces the representatives of the Parliament to the
achievements that Serbia made in the last six months to meet the conditions for joining the
EU. Chairperson of the EU Committee, Lord Boswell pointed out that it was the general
feeling in London that Serbia has made real progress, and that it is confirmed by reports from
Minister Vucic met in London with the Secretary of State for Defence Philip Hammond,
the Director General for Security Policy in the Ministry of Defence Tom McCain, Minister
for International Security Strategy Dr Andrew Morrison and David Lidington, Minister for
Europe. The topics of the talks were EU integration, Kosovo and Metohija, defence policy,
regional security, and aspects of multilateral and bilateral military cooperation.
In terms of defence cooperation, Vucic talked with his British colleagues about improving the
possibility of civilian participation in multinational peacekeeping operations, joint projects to
improve air defence capabilities, participation in projects to improve regional capabilities and
further improvement of military medical cooperation.
