Change of Command Ceremony in Sarajevo

On August 12 a ceremony was held marking the change of command of the EUFOR Multinational Battalion (MNBN) in Sarajevo. Together with a Turkish company, the Hungarian company will carry out the operational tasks of the battalion from this July until February next year.

At the ceremony, EUFOR Commander Brig.-Gen. Johann Luif transferred the guidon of the unit to Lt.-Col. Reinhard Bacher. Besides several high-ranking guests, the event was attended by Brig.-Gen. Giselle Wilz, the commander of NATO HQ Sarajevo and Brig.-Gen. Zoltán Mihócza, EUFOR Chief of Staff.

In his speech, Lt.-Col. Reinhard Bacher pointed out that the EUFOR Operation Althea has great significance and is challenging for its participants, and also that in cooperation with the armed forces of Bosnia-Herzegovina, the EUFOR Multinational Battalion plays an important role in the fields of capacity building and training.
