On January 16th 2014 the Finnish Minister of Defence, Mr. Carl Haglund approved the proposal for acquiring one hundred used Leopard 2A6 main battle tanks for the Finnish Army.

On 19 December, during a ceremonial event, two units of Armed Forces received vehicles presented by Norwegian Armed Forces.
The Minister of Defence Artis Pabriks and the Ambassador of Norway to Latvia Jan Ole Grevstad presented the keys of vehicles to soldiers of the Staff Battalion and National Guard 17th Air Defence Battalion, thus the first out of 34 presented vehicles, accompanied by the Military Police, reached the units.

The winners of EMPA’s Best Article and Best Photo awards were already announced in EMPA congress. On 31st of October in Ministry of Defence of Republic of Latvia the winner – Sgt. Gatis Indrēvics was awarded. The award was presented by EMPA’s President Līga Lakuča. After receiving the prize, Gatis Indrēvics showed gratitude towards EMPA’s members for their support and expressed satisfaction that he was able to bring the victory in this contest to Latvia and specifically to magazine “Tēvijas Sargs”.
