Danish and German troops arrived in Latvia to take part in the military exercises, including in the Silver Arrow exercise in September.
The Danish Armed Forces will be represented by more than 160 troops, and more than 60 troops will arrive from Germany.
Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis on Thursday officially opened the new offices of the NATO Centre of Excellence for Strategic Communications (COE Stratcom) in the Latvian capital Riga.
Vejonis cut the ribbon during the inauguration ceremony and said that COE Stratcom would have a great role to play in the future.

The European Military Press Association (EMPA) 35th Congress was held in Tartu and Tallinn, Estonia from 23 to 27 September. The aim of the congress was to introduce military journalists and editors with Estonian Defence Forces and the Baltic Defence College (BALTDEFCOL). This was already the second EMPA’s congress that took place in the Baltic States; EMPA’s 2008 Congress was held in Latvia.
Currently, 143 members of the Armed Forces of Serbia are deployed in the UNIFIL Mission on Lebanon. Their task is to watch, monitor and maintain the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon and to normalize living conditions, which is to conduct projects of civilian-military cooperation and to provide medical aid to local residents.
From September 29 to October 6 the international Land Force exercise „Silver Arrow” will be conducted in Adazi Training Area. More than 2100 soldiers from Latvia, Estonia, Great Britain, Greece, Norway and U.S. “Silver Arrow” has grown from national level Land Force Infantry Brigade and National Guard exercise to multinational large scale exercise.

Late July 2014 saw the final evaluatoion of the first Croatian Autonomous Vessel Protection Detachment – AVPD, which is to be deployed to EU NAVFOR SOMALIA – OPERATION ATALANTA by the end of the year. The responsible unit is the Croatian Navy, whose members have successfully participated in the operation at officer posts in the ATALANTA Headquarters in Northwood and aboard the ships deployed in the area. The first Croatian AVPD team will be composed of ten members, commanded by Lieutenant (N) Nenad Kontri.
Joint endeavour towards security and peace in Afghanistan
The 23rd HRVCON to ISAF comprises some twenty soldiers assigned to a number of posts in Kabul, among whom the Croatian representatives to the International Joint Command (IJC), located at the KAIA. The IJC monitors all activities in ISAF and controls all troops movements and activities in the field. During our visit to the Croatian soldiers in the IJC, we took the opportunity to talk to Major General Antonio Satta, Deputy IJC Commander, an officer from the Italian Armed Forces, with an extensive experience from the international missions and operations (served in Lebanon, Somalia, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan).
