Currently, 143 members of the Armed Forces of Serbia are deployed in the UNIFIL Mission on Lebanon. Their task is to watch, monitor and maintain the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon and to normalize living conditions, which is to conduct projects of civilian-military cooperation and to provide medical aid to local residents.

A ceremony on the occasion of sending off 130 members of the SAF infantry company into the UN UNIFIL mission to Lebanon there has been in the Nis Barracks “Knjaz Mihailo“,  4th November.

The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Nebojsa Rodic, Head of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic, Episcope Jovan and other guests.

At the Nis military airport Serbian peacekeepers from the mission "UNIFIL" in Lebanon were welcomed. The welcoming ceremony was attended by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Aleksandar Zivkovic, commander of the Third Army Brigade Commander Brigadier General Zelimir Glisović, commander of the Peacekeeping Operations Center Colonel Milivoje Pajovic, including relatives and friends of members of the platoon of the Third Brigade of the Army.

In the "South" base, the members of the Serbian Armed Forces that will participate in multinational operations in Cyprus and Lebanon have been officially seen off. Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Aleksandar Vucic met in London with Foreign Minister William Hague, as well as with members of the House of Lords, the EU Committee of the British Parliament. Ministers Vucic and Haig discussed the European integration of Serbia, Kosovo and Metohija, judicial reform and the fight against corruption. The two ministers expressed their wishes that Serbia and the United Kingdom are reliable partners.

Delegation of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Serbia, headed by the State Secretary Zoran Djordjevic, visited the European Defence Agency in Brussels. The visit to the Agency was held in the framework of negotiations regarding the agreements on administrative cooperation between the Defence Ministry and the agency states. Serbian Army members who formed the second contingent of Serbian soldiers in the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon were welcomed on 3 January 2012. at the Belgrade airport "Nikola Tesla" by the Head of the Centre for Peacekeeping Operations of the General Staff Colonel Jelesije Radivojevic, as well as their family and friends. Lt. Col. Igor Scepanovic, Majors Stevan Raseta, Ivica Trajkovic and Srdjan Bulatovic and captain Slavko Djukic returned to Serbia after a six-month stay in Lebanon, where they were assigned as staff officers.

Defence Minister Dr. Imre Szekeres and Dragan Sutanovac, Minister of Defence of Serbia signed a bilateral defence cooperation agreement between the Republic of Hungary and Serbia on 22 March in Belgrade. The bilateral agreement comprises 17 articles which provide a framework for the joint training of the two nation’s military units as well as for cooperation in joint control of airspace, EOD and disaster relief operations.
